Santicizer 160 (butylbenzyl phthalate) is a highly polar polymer plasticiser for polyurethane based materials such as caulk/sealants, coatings and elastomers. It is compatible with a wide range of urethanes, offering superior physical properties and retention of physicals.

Santicizer 160 is resistant to hydrolysis and to extraction by jet fuels. Data indicates that solvent swell is significantly reduced as the plasticiser level is increased. If solvent swell is a major concern, such as print rollers, then the formulation should have the highest amount of plasticiser possible. Compared to Benzoflex 9-88, Santicizer 160 provides very low and extremely consistent free hydroxyl content as it resists fungal attack.

Santicizer 160 provides good processing characteristics due to its low viscosity, allowing processing at low temperatures. As a transparent liquid, it is well suited for transparent or light coloured polymers or coatings.

Santicizer 160 complies with FDA regulations for use in adhesives, free film, tubing, metal and paper coatings and mouldings.
