Atmer™ 262

Generic Family: Additive -- Antistatic AgentSupplied by: Cargill
Applications
Atmer 262 is recommended as both an internal and external Anti-static additive for use in Polyolefins and Styrenics. Atmer 262 also has synergistic benefits with Atmer 129.

Mode of Action
When used internally, Atmer 262 can be dispersed evenly through the polymer in the melt phase. It migrates to the surface of the polymer where it interacts with atmospheric moisture, reducing surface resistivity and allowing dissipation of static charge. External application of Atmer 262 can be achieved by applying the additive to the surface for an immediate but temporary effect.

Benefits
  • Excellent heat stability
  • Synergistic with Atmer 129
  • Derived from natural sources
  • Liquid at room temperature

Recommended Polymers
  • PE
  • PP
  • EVA
  • Styrenics (clear and opaque)
  • TPE
  • PMMA

Guidelines for Use
Atmer 262 can be applied internally or externally. As an internal additive it can be incorporated into resins as supplied or via masterbatch / pre-blend. Typical addition levels are 0.1- 0.5 % in films and 0.5 - 3.0 % in molding applications. As an external additive it should be dissolved in an appropriate solvent, such as water or alcohol at a concentration level of between 2 - 5 %. It can be applied by spraying, wet coating or dipping, dependent on the product manufacturing process. Atmer 262 is not suitable for use in PVC or in applications where it may come into direct contact with electronic circuit boards.
