Akrowax™ EBS 290 an ethylene bis-stearamide wax. It is based on fatty unsaturated straight chain monocarboxylic acids derived from naturally occurring vegetable oils. In plastics such as PVC, ABS and polystyrene, Akrowax™ EBS 290 is employed as a processing lubricant, release, slip and antiblocking agent. It is an excellent slip additive for polyolefins, and functions by migrating to the film surface where it exerts a lubricating effect. It has high thermal stability, making it more suitable for higher temperature processing. In addition it is less prone to thermal oxidation during processing and contributes less color (i.e. yellowing) and odor to the final product.
