It is a plasticizer of high solvactant power, soluble in most of the organic solvents, oils and resins. It has good stability to light and heat and low solubility in water. It is used in the production of nitrocellulose, polyvinyl acetate, paints and adhesives, nitrile and chlorinated rubbers, lacquers and phenolic, alkyd, styrene and other resins. It is also used for grinding pigments, perfumes-fixing, artificial leather, textile lubricant and paper-sizing.
