GP-828 is a solution of moisture activated silicone polymer in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent. When applied to substrates, GP-828 forms a solid, durable release coating as carrier solvent evaporates, and atmospheric moisture activated crosslinking reactions occur. The byproduct of the curing process is a small amount of acetic acid, which imparts a slight vinegar-like odor. Release films provided by GP-828 show good adhesion to metals, glass and plastic substrates and are suggested as release agents for the molding of thermoplastic and thermoset rubber and plastics. GP-828 should be applied to clean molds by spraying or wipe-on methods and then allowed to air dry for 8-16 hours at room temperature. The resulting cured film is expected to give multiple release of molded parts. Some of the special properties of GP-828 are listed below:
