Micral® 855
Micral® 855 alumina trihydrate is a flame retardant and smoke suppressant. It is a low surface area, fine particle-sized product with very low +325 mesh and +500 mesh fractions. Micral 855 has precise particle size distribution, low absorbed water and low soluble soda content.
Micral 855 is a full performance and price competitive alternative to fine particle precipitated alumina trihydrate. It has been designed for rapid and complete dispersion in polyethylene and ethylene copolymers. Thermoplastic or cross-linked compounds made with Micral 855 show low viscosities which result in favorable processing, particularly at high filler loadings.
Micral 855 has demonstrated superior mechanical properties in polyolefin based compounds when compared with traditional ground alumina trihydrate. Mechanical properties observed with Micral 855 are comparable to fine particle precipitated alumina trihydrate.
Applications include wire and cable jacketing and insulation and injection molded and extruded polyolefins. A complete range of surface modifications is available to aid processing and enhance physical properties. These include silanes, stearates and wetting agents. Technical service is available.
