Melamine cyanurate is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic white crystalline powder. its density is 1.35~1.85 g/cm3 and its molar mass is 255.2 g/mol. It is nearly insoluble in water, however, it is soluble in ethanol, methanol and other organic solvents. It has subacidity and it can scatter in oil mediums. It is very stable under 300 degrees Celsius, however, above 350 degrees Celsius, it undergoes endothermic decomposition to melamine and cyanuric acid, acting as a heat sink in the process. It shows excellent flame retardant properties.
