Crystal nucleating agent for polyolefin resins

It is generally known that all sorbitol nucleating agents tend to generate a very small amount of free aldehyde in PP resins, thereby causing problems in terms of taste and smell. We focused on chemical changes in sorbitol nucleating agents in PP and then understood about the processes that these changes are the primary factor for the problem of time-consuming decomposition in the kneading and forming processes; and through this understanding, we developed the more stable products which not only suppress free aldehyde to the minimum in the nucleating agent manufacturing step but also suppress the generation of free aldehyde to the minimum in the kneading and forming processes. The typical level of free aldehyde in PP resin molded products in which RiKAFAST is used as a crystal nucleating agent is 50% lower than that of dimethyl dibenzylidine sorbitol (DMDBS).
