Mica powder is general name of white mica, sericite powder, phlogopite powder and other series. Sericite is a kind of fine-grained squamose muscovite with silky luster. It has a diameter-thickness ratio of > 80, proportion of 2.6-2.7, hardness of 2-3, and complete {001} cleavage. It can be split into super-thin squamose flakes which are flexible and bendable, with elastic modulus of 1505-2134MPa, tensile strength of 170-360MPa, shear strength of 215-302MPa, heat-resistance up to 600oC, and heat transfer rate of 0.419-0.670W. (mK) - 1. It has high acid and alkali resistances, strong electrical insulating property, and good abrasion and wear resistance. In addition, the chemical composition, structure, and configuration of sericite are similar to those of kaolin; therefore, sericite also has certain characteristics of clay minerals, such as, good suspension in aqueous medium and organic solvents, white granulocyte, good viscosity, and so on.

The sericite mine in Chuzhou of Anhui belongs to schist sericite deposit. The proven reserve in the area is tens of millions of tons. The main components of the ore are sericite (the content is up to 40-60%) and quartz. The mineral composite is relatively simple; the contents of Pb, As and other toxic elements are very low. It does not contain any radioactive elements, which can serve as eco-friendly materials.
