Omnistab™ UV BP-1 is as light stabilizer in plastics, which can effectively protect PMMA and clothing materials for being transnatured by light. It is also the intermediate for compounding other UV absorbers. Omnistab™ UV BP-1 is applicable to polyolefin, PVC and polystyrene. Omnistab™ UV BP-1 is used as UV absorber, by which the Benzophenone like UV-9, UV-531 and the monophydroxy, dihydroxy, trihydroxy and tetrahydroxy compounds can be derived, which are the most widely used absorbing light stabilizers, which can absorb UV light from 290 to 400nm and be widely applied to polymer materials with its good compatibility with synthetic resin. 2,4 Dihydroxybenzophenone is applicable to PVC, polystyrene, epoxy resin, cellulosic resin, coating and synthetic rubber, with its greatest absorption wavelength from 280 to 340nm and its general amount from 0.1% to 1%. But this product is not prominent in keeping light stability. The LD50 is 8600mg/kg for white rat orally and 2336 mg/kg for white mouse only.
