The CEREPLAS™ trimellitate range of specialty esters for use as plasticizers or as base esters in functional fluids, consists of a number of grades produced by the controlled esterification of various alcohols with trimellitic anhydride.

CEREPLAS™ OTM is a trimellitate ester of 2-ethyl hexanol, it is a clear, almost colourless and odourless liquid, miscible with inert organic solvents but immiscible with water.

CEREPLAS™ OTM is designed for use in flexible PVC applications where low volatility and resistance to high temperature environments is required, typically in high temperature cables. The low rates of migration of CEREPLAS™ OTM from PVC ensures long service life and is strongly recommended for low “fogging” applications such as automotive internal trim. CEREPLAS™ OTM is frequently used in the production of medical devices and is well known as a perfect replacement for 2-ethylhexyl phthalate within the medical industry. As a base ester in functional fluids, it typically finds use in high temperature chain oils.
