Atmer™ 190
Atmer 190 is an internal Anti-static additive recommended for use in PLA and PLA blends, as well as nontransparent applications in HIPS, ABS, and rigid PVC. It can also be used as an external Anti-static additive in a number of polymers.
Mode of Action
Atmer 190 is an internally incorporated additive that can be dispersed evenly through the polymer in the melt phase. It migrates to the surface of the polymer where it interacts with atmospheric moisture, reducing surface resistivity and allowing dissipation of static charge over a long period of time. Alternatively Atmer 190 can be applied externally to the surface of a polymer giving an immediate but temporary Anti-static effect.
Benefits
- Excellent thermal stability
- Recommended for transparent and non-transparent PLA and PLA blends
- Recommended for non-transparent HIPS, ABS, and rigid PVC
Recommended Polymers
- PLA / PLA blends
- ABS
- non-transparent styrenics
- non-transparent rigid PVC
Guidelines for use
Atmer 190 can be incorporated internally into resin as supplied or via masterbatch / pre-blend. Experience has shown that simple manual mixing prior to processing will normally give an acceptable dispersion, though mechanical means are preferred. Alternatively, it can be applied externally as a wet coating or by dipping depending on the manufacturing process.
Typical addition levels are up to 3 % for PLA and below 3 % for PLA blends. Typical addition levels are between 1- 3 % for styrenics and rigid PVC.
