II Properties and uses

Colourless, odorless transparent oily liquid, flash point 170?, b.p. 289 °C, refractive index 1.4226(20°C), viscosity 3.5~12.2 c.p.(20°C) ..

Soluble in ethanol, and other common organic solvent. Soluble in the water slightly, the solubility in this article is 7% (25°C), but would gradually hydrolyze with the increase of the temperature.

Extensively used as a plasticizer for the nitryl cellulose, acetic cellulose, chlorination rubber, PVC; Can be used as the solvent of the coating, bond, printing ink, froth suppressor, static inhibitor; Also can be used as the extracting agent of the rare metal, but the boiling point is low, the volatilization loss is big, the application on plasticizer is limited.
