Wetting and dispersing additive to prevent sedimentation and flooding of pigments.

Product Properties:

AFCONA-5054 helps to prevent interfacial tension between the hydrophilic pigments/extenders and the binder, forming a lattice structure with the pigments at the same time. It stabilized pigment through electrical charge repulsion forces.

AFCONA - 5054 has below special properties and recommended in below systems:

AFCONA - 5054 gives very wide compatibility with almost all resins systems. Compared to AFCONA - 5044, AFCONA - 5054 has more polar groups and a higher molecular weight. Due to these facts AFCONA - 5054 gives better anti-settling effect than AFCONA - 5044.

Like AFCONA - 5044, AFCONA - 5054 mainly is used in primers and decorative paints. It also widely used in marine and heavy duty paints. AFCONA - 5044 has better wetting properties and AFCONA - 5054 gives better anti-settling and antiflooding properties.

AFCONA-5054 is ideal for dispersing organophilic Bentonites, because it reduces dispersion time, improves the storage stability of the final paste and gives a thixotropic, easily processed paste-product.

AFCONA-5054 is especially suitable for non-polar to medium-polar binder systems, i.e. air-drying alkyd resins, chlorinated polymers, alkyd/amino resin combinations and epoxies.

AFCONA-5054 can cause discoloration in nitrocellulose varnishes and cause gel in certain UPE resin.

Note: AFCONA - 5054 will become slightly hazy at temperatures below 5° C. This will not influence the quality.
