GP-9 is a 50% silicone solids emulsion of mercaptoalkyl functional paintable (methylalkylaryl polysiloxane) silicone fluid (GP-7200). The base polymer contains a combination of alkyl and alkylaryl sidechains which help insure good compatibility with both cleaners and solvent-based paints and coatings. The additional mercaptoalkyl functionality helps to provide increased high temperature stability and additional release performance in many plastic and rubber molding operations. As with any contaminant, it is recommended that residues be removed from surfaces prior to painting or bonding for best results. However, if removal is not complete, residue of GP-9 will not cause fisheyes, orange peel, or similar effects associated with conventional dimethyl silicones.

APPLICATIONS: The primary application of GP-9 is as a release agent, or release agent component in the molding or casting of articles which are to be painted or bonded in subsequent operations. The following are some specific uses:
